Functional Capacity Evaluation
What is Functional Capacity Evaluation?
A functional capacity evaluation is an objective and systematic way of determining if an individual is fit to undertake any work-related activity, at what demand level, and for how long. This evaluation helps identify the physical and cognitive tasks an individual can perform safely without risk of injury, establishing guidelines for sustainable workloads and necessary workplace accommodations.

About Functional Capacity
-
Physical Abilities: This includes strength, flexibility, endurance, and other physical capabilities. The assessment determines how well an individual can perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, which are often essential for job performance.
-
Work Tolerance: Assessing how long a person can perform work-related activities before fatigue impairs performance. This includes stamina in standing, walking, or maintaining other postures required by their job.
-
Work-Related Limitations: Identifying specific limitations that might affect an individual's ability to perform certain job functions. This might include restrictions in bending, reaching, or handling tools and materials.
-
Safety and Risk: Evaluating whether the individual can perform tasks safely and effectively, without risking further injury to themselves or others.
